How to clear up blurry graphics in AOL

America Online, by default, utilizes graphics compression software that speeds up the delivery of web pages to it's members by compressing images on the Web. Images that are BMP, GIF, or JPG are converted into the proprietary Johnson-Grace image format "ART". When these finely-detailed images are viewed with AOL's browser, the result is that the images appear BLURRY. All AOL members have the option of deselecting Compressed Graphics in their Web Preferences.

Here's what you do:

1. Click on "Settings"

2. Select "Preferences"

3. Select "Internet Properties WWW"

4. Click on "Web Graphics"

5. Delete the check mark at "Compressed graphics"
or choose "Never Compress Graphics"

6. Click "OK"

This should fix the problem. If images are still blurry, you will need to REFRESH the page to clear the old images from your cache.
